A Tarrant County jury has sentenced a Fort Worth woman to life in prison after finding her guilty of murdering her boyfriend outside a Euless motel.
Jurors convicted 45-year-old Bridget Renee Leitao of Murder in the shooting death of 40-year-old Jorge Pulido-Lara. The punishment phase concluded with a life sentence.
The case stems from the night of May 27, 2024. According to testimony, Leitao and Pulido-Lara were driving to a grocery store when they began arguing about his whereabouts earlier that day. During the dispute, Pulido-Lara turned the vehicle around and drove back to the motel in the 100 block of West Airport Freeway in Euless, where the couple had been staying.
After they arrived, both exited the vehicle. Investigators said Leitao retrieved a firearm and pointed it at Pulido-Lara. She initially lowered the weapon, then raised it again and fired, striking him in the chest.
Officers with the Euless Police Department responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim lying on the ground. When officers arrived, they found Pulido-Lara unresponsive. Euless paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Assistant District Attorneys Jasmine Banks and Chase Payne prosecuted the case.
During the trial, jurors also heard about Leitao’s prior history of violence. In 2008, she was convicted of assaulting a female Fort Worth police officer with a knife and served a 12-year prison sentence. That case stemmed from a domestic dispute in which she attacked her then-girlfriend and later lunged at an officer responding to the scene. The officer shot and wounded her during the confrontation.
In a separate incident, Leitao was arrested in January 2023 and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
With the life sentence, Leitao will remain in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
