DALLAS — A Dallas man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty in a fatal 2023 shooting outside a northeast Dallas convenience store.
33-year-old Desmond Gregoire pleaded guilty to capital murder on February 6, 2026, and was sentenced by the court to 30 years in prison.
According to prosecutors, the shooting occurred on May 15, 2023, at a 7-Eleven in the 9500 block of Forest Lane. Investigators said Gregoire went to the location intending to recover a bag of marijuana that had allegedly been taken from him days earlier.
During the encounter, Gregoire shot 26-year-old Ktrellriontae Rodgers as Rodgers attempted to run away. Authorities said Gregoire then took a bag from Rodgers while he was lying on the ground before fleeing the scene.
Investigators determined that co-defendant 29-year-old Miya Taylor drove Gregoire to the store and transported him away after the shooting.
Taylor remains charged in the case, and her jury trial is currently scheduled to begin March 23, 2026.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Chelsea McHenry, with investigative support from District Attorney investigators Martin Bosse and John Valdez, and victim advocacy services provided by Sandra Walker. The investigation was conducted by the Dallas Police Department.
