The Irving Police Department is investigating a crash between a vehicle and a child at the intersection of N. MacArthur Blvd and Ranchview Dr. at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The accident occurred when an 8-month-old infant child fell out of a moving vehicle in the intersection. The child was struck by a possible black sedan that continued without stopping.

The circumstances of how the child fell out of the car are still under investigation.

The Irving Police Department asks anyone who may have witnessed this crash, was in the area, or has any information to contact Investigator Lospeich at (972) 721-2761.

UPDATE NOV. 15:  Police officer Reeves says the infant was deceased.  He described the child as a "black female infant" that fell off of the right back passenger door.  The vehicle was traveling northbound on MacArthur Blvd on the left turn lane ready to go westbound on Ranchview.  The vehicle had 4 children inside, 6-year-old, a 3-year-old, a 2-year-old and the 8-month-old infant child.   None of the children were secured with any seatbelts.  There were 2 car seats in the vehicles where unsecured.  When the vehicle made the left turn, the back right door opened and the infant fell out.   The infant was then struck by another vehicle.   A driver behind the vehicle stopped to render aid to the infant, but the child was deceased.

Irving Police is not seeking charges against the person that ran over the child.  Investigators believe the person does not realize that they ran over a child.

Child Protective Services is investigating the case.
