The Irving Police Department have added two new Aggressive Driving Enforcement Units. The two new Chevrolet Tahoes have muted paint jobs that will blend into traffic. The purpose for these units are for patrolling streets and looking for aggressive drivers.
Irving Police joined Grand Prairie Police, Mesquite Police, and Dallas Police this month in an aggressive driving task force.
“People are pointing guns at other individuals because they’re losing their patience, losing their temper,” Irving Officer Robert Reeves said.
It is not clear how efficient these two vehicles will be in reducing agressive driving in Irving streets/highways, but Irving Police will try anything to keep residents safe.
“We are having these [road rage incidents] not every day but we are having them very frequently,” Reeves said.
The police department's view point is that if the lower profile vehicles are able to stop just one road rage incident, then the investment was worth it.
