DFW Airport Takes Proactive Approach when Dealing with Inclement Weather

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is constantly monitoring the weather through the National Weather Service (NWS) for anything that may impact its operations.

With the current winter storm hitting the area, Airport operations began treating the runways, taxiways, bridges and roadways before the storm arrived.  The

"In preparation for freezing temperatures, treatment will continue throughout the day and night.", read a statement provided by DFW Airport.

With such proactive actions, it highly reduces chances for accidents.

Even with these preemptive measures, flights do get cancelled due to airline requests.   American Airlines canceled over 500 flights in and out of DFW ahead of the storm to give passengers time to make other plans.

Deicing airplanes takes time and causes flight delays, but DFW Airport is to be commended for their efforts to keep everyone safe.

DFW Airport posted the following advise, "customers are encouraged to check flight details with their airlines before heading to the Airport."
