Swat Team Shoots And Kills Suspect Barricaded In Hurst Tx Home

At 2:06 a.m., on March 15, 2022, Hurst Police Officers responded to a shots fired call and welfare concern at a home in the 600 block of Willow St in Hurst, Texas. After officers contacted the resident by phone, the resident fired multiple shots toward the responding officers.

The officers established a perimeter and requested assistance from the North East Tarrant County Area SWAT Team (NETCAST), consisting of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and Grapevine officers.

While waiting for NETCAST and negotiators, the suspect continued to fire dozens of rounds, with some rounds exiting the structure. NETCAST arrived at the scene, relieved patrol officers, and attempted to negotiate with the suspect. Hurst PD detectives obtained a search warrant and arrest warrant.

After lengthy attempts to negotiate with the suspect, NETCAST deployed tear gas, breached the structure, and resumed attempts to negotiate. The suspect continued firing rounds and refused to surrender. At approximately 8:35 a.m., the suspect exited the side of the residence, brandishing and firing a weapon at NETCAST officers. Mutliple NETCAST officers returned fire, and the suspect fell to the ground. Hurst Fire Department medics had been staged near the location and immediately responded to render aid. Medics pronounced the male suspect deceased at the scene.

No other citizens or responding officers were injured during this incident. The involved agencies requested the Texas Rangers lead the investigation of the officer-involved shooting. The names of the suspect and the involved officers are not being released at this time. While the threat from this incident is over, the investigation continues at the scene.
