Irving Business Helping Balding Women

A leading scalp micropigmentation artist is now offering services to women suffering from baldness in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Working from the Illusions By Ink Studio, Elena uses her tattoo expertise to cover up bald spots appearing on women’s heads by inserting pigment into the scalp that matches the woman’s natural hair color.

Illussions By Ink Studio is located at 4040 N. MacArthur Blvd, Suite 116 in Irving.

Female hair loss is a very common condition. The Cleveland Clinic has estimated that roughly 50% of all women will experience hair loss for a variety of reasons, ranging from the effects of hormonal imbalances due to pregnancy and menopause to conditions causing alopecia areata (patchy baldness). Roughly one-third of women will experience some level of hair loss through alopecia or Female-Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL). Hair loss is also common among postmenapausal women; up to two-thirds of postmenapuasal women suffer hair thinning and/or bald spots. This can have a devastating psychological effect on a woman’s sense of well-being and can affect their quality of life. Scalp pigmentation therapy is an effective way to counteract the damage due to baldness.

SMP can be used to treat balding arising from the following conditions:

  • Thinning hair

  • Hairline recession

  • Pattern baldness

  • Alopecia

  • Hair transplant scarring

“(The) owner is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in all services of her business. I just received a service today. She was very patient and caring for how I felt throughout my treatment . HIGHLY RECOMMEND!” – one SMP client stated.

Androgenetic alopecia is the main cause of baldness for women and men, but the development of the bald spots happen differently in women than what happens in men. A woman's hairline almost never recedes like it does in men. Instead, the hair loss typically starts along the part line and radiates outward from the top of the head. SMP is designed to cover up bald spots between the hair strands to give the hair a more fuller appearance.

How SMP Works

A session will normally last less than three hours. During that time, Elena will mix pigment colors to match the hair color of the recipient. Using microneedles, pigment is injected into the dermal layer of skin on the scalp. The procedure itself isn’t painful but if the time allotted goes over three hours, the nerves in the skin may become agitated and sensitive, and the procedure will have to stop.

There will typically be some redness around the treated area for the first 24 hours and it will be more noticeable in people with lighter skin tones than darker ones. The pigmentation will also be dark at first before the color fades to match the hair color. Women may also experience scabbing around the needle holes after treatment. The scabs will start to fall off after three days and will stop around the tenth day after the procedure. The SMP dots, or puncture holes, will continue shrinking until they are barely noticeable. Approximately one month after completing treatments, pigments will begin to set and a full-head of hair appearance is eventually achieved.

Not for Everyone

Not all women are eligible to have this procedure performed. Women suffering from dermatitis, psoriasis and folliculitis typically have problems healing after the procedure and are advised to avoid having it done. Also, women with keloid scarring, which is a thick raised scar on the head caused by injuries to the skin, should consult with a dermatologist before having SMP work done to make sure it’ll heal properly.

Financing Options

Illusions by Ink Studio offers financing options for customers who require a payment plan. The company uses Cherry lending services and its own proprietary lending option. In both cases, a hard credit check will not be performed when applying for credit.
