Irving Police Addresses Dangerous Social Media Trend

The Irving Police Department is aware of a social media trend involving shooting either known or random victims with BB guns, airsoft guns, SplatRBall, or Orbeez guns. These toy guns shoot a hard plastic, metal or gel-filled projectile propelled by air pressure, gas pressure, or spring actions. Some of these incidents have resulted in people getting injured.

Depending on the gun and the victim’s injury, participants of this challenge could be charged with a felony crime when arrested by police. The Irving Police Department would like to discourage anyone from participating in this event or anything similar. Bringing any of these devices to a school campus is prohibited.

Parents, please remind your children that using airsoft guns, BB guns, or imitation guns to shoot any projectile at the public can result in criminal charges and severe injury.
