Women in Aviation Chapters host Girls in Aviation Day Dallas on Sept 24

The WAI North Texas Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) has announced that, for the eighth year, they will be hosting a free program for local girls ages 8 to 18 years to introduce them to the possibilities available in a career in aviation. The day’s activities will take place at the Commemorative Air Force’s Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center, at Dallas Executive Airport, 5657 Mariner Dr., Dallas, TX 75327 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Space is limited and free tickets are required and can be ordered here: https://bit.ly/GIAD-DALLAS-2022

“This event will help North Texas girls experience the exciting careers available to them as engineers, astronauts, aircraft maintenance technicians, pilots, dispatchers, air traffic controllers, and dozens of other jobs within the aviation community,” says WAI North Texas Chapter President, Lauren Featherstone. “The girls will also meet role models from all areas of the aerospace industry and in all STEM roles, as well as enjoying over a dozen interactive stations and experiencing a huge variety of aircraft.”

The WAI North Texas Chapter will join Women in Aviation International chapters around the world on September 24, 2022, for an outreach event to inspire the next generation of women in aviation. Chapters all over the world are putting on their own, unique programs.  Attendees will also be able to earn the WAI Aviation Girl Fun Patch.

“The program is free for participants and their chaperones,” added Lauren. “We are so excited to announce that the guest speaker for our 8th Girls in Aviation Day Dallas will be Stephanie Chung, Chief Growth Officer at Wheels Up. And, we know our high-school age attendees will especially appreciate the unique program for them providing face-to-face mentorship sessions with local aviation pros, real world navigation, mechanical basics, and a pre-flight of and actual aircraft.”

More information about the event can be found on the chapter’s website at WAINTX.org.
