Man Shot and Killed by Fort Worth Police During Standoff

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred October 15 at a home on the southeast part of town.

At 11:00 pm, Fort Worth officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 4000 block of Wiman Drive. A woman called 9-1-1 to report her adult son was damaging the house with a hammer.

When officers arrived, the adult son came to the door armed with a handgun. They called SWAT to assist with the situation.

The suspect’s mother was able to leave the house safely. At approximately 1:56 am, the suspect was observed standing in the doorway of the residence pointing his weapon at an officer. The officer responded by firing his weapon, striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as a 29-year-old male.

The investigation is ongoing.
