Dallas Man Arrested for Killing Woman After She Beat Him in a Basketball Game

Cameron Hogg, 31, was arrested October 20 for a murder that occurred on October 4, 2022.   Hogg is accused of shooting and killing 21-year-old Asia Womack after she beat him in a basketball game.

According to a story on CBS DFW, Womack's family believes that Hogg was upset about losing the basketball game at Terry Park in Dallas.

The arrest warrent says that Hogg shot Womack several times and left her lying on a sidewalk to die.  Dallas Police received a call about a shooting at about 7:40 pm on October 4.  When Officers arrived on scene, they found Womack injured on the ground.

Dallas Fire-Rescue took the woman to a nearby hospital where she later died.

"Asia loved basketball. She loved it to a point where she died doing what she loved, and shouldn't have died that way," Womack's mother, Andrea, is quoted as saying in the CBS story. "She's eaten with this man, fed him and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way."

According to Womack's obituary, Asia was born in Fort Worth, Texas, graduated from James Madison High School in Dallas, also attended Texas A&M University–Commerce.

"She had a big heart filled with so much love, joy, and laughter. She had a smile that could brighten your day. Asia was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church under the pastoral leadership of Bishop David E. Martin. She was an active participant in the Generation Next Ministry and the Youth Providence Ministry."  (From Obituary Page)
