The Irving Fire Department reports that a three-alarm structure fire occurred today at the Summer Gate Apartments located at 3805 N Beltline Road. The call came in at 12:45 pm, reporting smoke coming from the apartment building. At 12:47 pm, the first unit arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke showing. Engine crews advanced their hose into the building while other available crews worked on evacuating the affected apartments.
Fire crews reported that multiple floors were structurally compromised and sagging under their weight. Due to the severity of the situation, a second alarm was called for additional manpower, followed by a third alarm and mutual aid approximately 15 minutes later to provide relief crews. The high temperatures and direct sunlight necessitated a higher frequency of rotation into rehabilitation for shade and water.
The fire was brought under control at 1:27 pm. Investigators are currently on the scene, and the investigation has begun. Fortunately, due to the fast work of the crews, everyone was safely evacuated from the building, and no injuries have been reported. Six apartments were affected by the fire. City employees are collaborating with the Red Cross to assist the affected families during this challenging time.
