Driver Convicted of Intoxication Manslaughter in Fatal Crash, Receives 9-Year Prison Sentence

In the case of State vs. Henry Diaz Vargas, the defendant has been found guilty of Intoxication Manslaughter for the deaths of two individuals.

The lead prosecutor in the case was Stephen Duplantis, with James Worley serving as the second chair, and the investigation led by DA Investigator Derek Bryant. The Dallas Police Department was the investigating agency.

The 20-year-old defendant, Henry Diaz Vargas, had no previous criminal record. The incident occurred when he was traveling at a speed of 78 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone after midnight, without headlights. Vargas collided with two victims who were making a left turn at an intersection. His blood alcohol content was measured at .15, and beer cans were found in his truck.

As a result of the verdict, Henry Diaz Vargas has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for his role in the tragic incident.
