Cristian Yonari Bonilla-Lainez, 21, was found guilty of burglary of a habitation and sentenced to 11 years in prison on February 19, 2025.

The case, prosecuted by Kristen Jackson and Sarah Beth Delay, involved an incident in which Bonilla-Lainez attempted to enter the apartment of Alisabeth Granados in Dallas at 3:00 a.m.

Granados awoke to her dog barking and discovered Bonilla-Lainez, with a red bandana covering his face, attempting to enter her front door. She called 911. While on the phone, she witnessed him climbing onto her balcony and fled the apartment.

Upon police arrival, Bonilla-Lainez barricaded himself inside the apartment. After he refused to exit, officers forced entry and found him inside, where he had gathered several of Granados’ belongings, including her keys.

The jury found Bonilla-Lainez guilty. He is an undocumented immigrant.
