Panic at Dallas Convention Center During Cheerleading Event, No Active Shooter Found

A loud noise inside the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center caused mass panic during a national cheerleading competition on Saturday afternoon, prompting an evacuation and a large police response.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on March 1, 2025, Dallas Police responded to reports of an active shooter at 650 S. Griffin Street, where the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) All-Star National Championship was taking place. Officers quickly evacuated the convention center as a precaution while conducting a search of the facility.

After investigating, police confirmed there was no active shooter. A preliminary report determined that a fight between two individuals led to multiple poles being knocked down, creating a loud noise that sparked widespread panic. The noise triggered a rush for the exits, resulting in multiple non-life-threatening injuries during the chaos.

A family reunification center was established at 400 Lamar Street to assist those separated in the confusion. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols during emergencies.
