The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred early this morning on westbound IH-30 near MacArthur Blvd.
At approximately 5:05 AM, a Dodge truck pulling a utility trailer was entering the emergency shoulder to stop and adjust towing straps when a Nissan passenger car collided with the utility trailer from behind. The passenger of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Dodge truck was unharmed.
Traffic investigators determined the driver of the Nissan was allegedly intoxicated and will be charged with Intoxication Manslaughter once released from medical treatment. No other charges are anticipated.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin are notified. The investigation is ongoing.
