Denton Police Seek Driver in Hit-and-Run that Seriously Injured Pedestrian

The Denton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify the driver of a dark-colored sedan that struck two female pedestrians and fled the scene early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2:12 a.m. on April 12, 2025, officers responded to the 2300 block of Carril Al Lago Drive, near N. Bonnie Brae Street and W. University Drive, for a reported crash. Witnesses stated that a dark-colored sedan hit two women in the roadway and did not stop, last seen traveling north on N. Bonnie Brae Street.

Both pedestrians were transported to a hospital. One victim suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries.

Traffic investigators have tentatively identified the suspect vehicle as a dark 2014-2015 Kia Optima, noting it likely has a missing or damaged front grill and headlight damage.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Traffic Unit Officer Michael Rose by email at Michael.Rose@cityofdenton.com or by calling 940-349-8181.
