On Monday, May 19, the Hurst Fire Department responded to an accident at the construction site of L.D. Bell High School after a 34-year-old male construction worker was struck by a bucket and pushed into a 17-foot-deep trench.

Emergency medical services were administered while the worker was still in the trench. He was secured in a Stokes basket and lifted out using an aerial ladder. He was then flown by CareFlight to Harris Methodist Hospital in downtown Fort Worth.

The worker was reportedly able to communicate, but the extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

Haltom City’s Rescue 47 and Battalion 47 assisted with the rescue effort.
