The Irving Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who abandoned two dogs at a local dog park in the early morning hours of Friday, May 16, 2025.
At approximately 4:20 a.m., surveillance video captured an individual abandoning a white German shepherd wearing a red backpack harness and a black and white husky wearing a standard pink harness. Both dogs also wore matching pink collars. The incident occurred at the public dog park located at 4140 Valley View Lane.
Abandoning an animal is considered animal cruelty under Texas law and is classified as a Class A misdemeanor. It carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $4,000.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be an older model SUV or crossover, possibly a 2017–2021 Mazda CX-5 or Toyota RAV4.
