An off-duty officer from the Carrollton Police Department, identified as Officer Wes Melton, 42, was arrested by the Irving Police Department on Friday, June 20, 2025, and charged with sexual assault.
Melton's arrest occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. in the 200 block of E. Las Colinas Boulevard in Irving. The Carrollton Police Department confirmed the arrest in a press release, stating that Melton, who joined the department in January 2024 and is currently assigned to Patrol, has been placed on administrative leave.
Both criminal authorities and Carrollton's Internal Affairs are conducting investigations into the incident. Melton was booked into the Irving Jail on June 21, 2025, at 2:30 a.m.
