UPDATE: On July 9, 2025, the Dallas Police Fugitive Unit arrested 19-year-old Gael Agurcia-Aguilar in connection with this case. He is charged with Murder and has been placed in the Dallas County Jail. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Caylen Mekhi Fritz who died at Baylor University Medical Center.

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Dallas police officers were flagged down regarding a shooting under a bridge near Canton Street and South Good Latimer Expressway.
When officers arrived, they discovered multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds in a nearby parking lot. Officers confronted an individual armed with a gun, and one officer discharged their firearm.
Life-saving measures were immediately rendered to the injured individuals. All victims were transported to local hospitals, where one was later pronounced dead. The identities of those involved have not yet been released.
Multiple firearms were recovered at the scene. No officers were injured.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight were notified and are conducting parallel investigations into the incident.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
