On Saturday, July 13th, 2025, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Grand Prairie Police responded to a shooting in the 1800 block of Avenue E. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male inside a residence with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grand Prairie Fire Department personnel.
Detectives determined the deceased male was a suspect who had arrived at the home of a woman with whom he had previously been in a relationship. The suspect reportedly forced his way into the residence and began assaulting the woman.
During the assault, the woman was able to access a handgun and shot the suspect, stopping the attack. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from her injuries.
The case is being investigated as a self-defense shooting and will be referred to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office for review.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased attacker as 45-year-old Luis Manuel Molina. Molina was originally from Acuña in Coahuila, Mexico.
UPDATE: The woman attacked was Molina's ex-wife.
