Fort Worth Police Captures Suspect After Shooting Outside Hulen Mall

Arrested: Kyonte Mitchell

A 21-year-old man is in custody after a Saturday afternoon shooting outside Hulen Mall that left another man injured.

Around 2 p.m. on December 6, 2025, Fort Worth officers responded to a shooting call at the mall located at 4700 S. Hulen Street. When officers arrived, they were directed to a grassy area between Macy’s and Red Robin, where they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

An off-duty officer from another agency, along with off-duty medical personnel, was already assisting the victim. Fort Worth Fire and MedStar arrived shortly after to provide additional treatment. Police said the victim’s injury is believed to be non-life-threatening.

According to early information, the victim was walking outside the mall when the suspect approached and shot him. Investigators believe the victim and the suspect know each other.

Fort Worth’s Gun Violence Unit spoke with witnesses at the scene and worked through the evening to locate the suspect. That night, the FWPD Fugitive Unit arrested 21-year-old Kyonte Mitchell. He is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony. Police noted Mitchell also had an outstanding warrant for the same charge in a separate case.

Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia praised his officers for the quick arrest, saying, “He’s off the streets, and he’s not going anywhere.”
