DFW Airport Police Officer Dies After Medical Emergency While on Duty

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is mourning the loss of  DFW Airport Police Sergeant Charles “Alan” Works, who passed away after suffering a medical emergency while serving the airport community.

Sgt. Works was remembered as a dedicated public servant and respected leader who served with integrity, humility, and genuine care for those around him. Colleagues described him as a steady presence within the department, known for his welcoming smile and his signature cowboy hat. His professionalism and compassion left a lasting impression on fellow officers, airport staff, and the community he served.

Sgt. Works began his law enforcement career in 2007 with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer. He later served as a police officer with the Tarrant County College Police Department from 2013 to 2020. In 2020, he joined the DFW Airport Police Department, where he continued to build a reputation as a committed and dependable officer.

In August 2022, Works was promoted to sergeant, quickly earning the respect of both those he supervised and his peers. He received a Certificate of Merit in 2023 for exemplary service and also served as a Field Training Officer and a member of the Police Honor Guard.

DFW Airport officials expressed their condolences, stating that Sgt. Works’ service and character will not be forgotten. Thoughts and prayers are extended to his family, friends, and fellow officers as they grieve his loss.
