Man Killed in Lake Worth Officer-Involved Shooting After Traffic Stop and Pursuit

LAKE WORTH, TX - A 56-year-old man was killed Friday evening after a traffic stop in Lake Worth escalated into a pursuit and officer-involved shooting, according to police.  He was identified as 56-year-old Jerry Scott Gee.

Lake Worth patrol officers initiated a traffic stop around 6:56 p.m. on December 26, 2025, in the 6000 block of Lake Worth Boulevard involving a red Ford Ranger. Officers determined the driver had an active probation revocation warrant related to solicitation of prostitution.

Before officers could take him into custody, the man fled the scene, leading officers on a slow-speed pursuit through the city. During the pursuit, the suspect caused significant damage to his vehicle, which became disabled behind 6360 Lake Worth Boulevard.

Police said the suspect exited the vehicle, took a shooting stance, and pointed what appeared to be a weapon toward officers. Four Lake Worth police officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured.

In accordance with standard procedures, the Texas Rangers have been requested to conduct an independent criminal investigation. Their findings will be presented to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and reviewed by a Tarrant County grand jury. The Lake Worth Police Department will also conduct a separate administrative investigation to review departmental policies and procedures.

The investigation remains in its early stages. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Lake Worth detectives at LWCID@lakeworthtx.org or by calling 817-237-1224.
