Flock LPR Alert Leads to Arrest After Pursuit and Barricade Situation in Frisco

FRISCO, Texas - A Flock license plate reader alert led to the arrest of a suspect Wednesday following a stolen vehicle investigation that escalated into a brief pursuit and a barricade situation, Frisco police said.

At approximately 7:47 a.m. on Dec. 31, Frisco Police received an automated license plate reader alert identifying a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Stonebrook Parkway and Dallas Parkway. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, which resulted in a short pursuit.

Police said the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the 7100 block of Fieldstone Way. Officers established a perimeter and deployed multiple resources, including the Frisco Police K9 Unit, Frisco Police Drone Unit, and Texas Department of Public Safety air support, to search the area.

Around 10:25 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 7100 block of Fieldstone Drive after receiving information that the suspect had barricaded himself inside his family’s home. Police confirmed no other individuals were inside the residence. Frisco Police SWAT and negotiators were activated and responded to the scene.

At approximately 12:34 p.m., the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Nima Ghani, was taken into custody without incident.

Ghani faces multiple charges, including Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, a state jail felony; Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, a third-degree felony; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor; and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 or 1-B, a state jail felony.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active.
