Dallas SWAT Officer Shoots, Kills Armed Suspect While Serving Warrant in West Dallas

DALLAS, TX - A suspect was shot and killed Friday morning after allegedly opening the door armed with a gun as Dallas Police SWAT officers attempted to serve a search warrant in West Dallas.

On February 20, 2026, at about 10:05 a.m., the Dallas Police Department SWAT team executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of Shaw Street, near the Canada Drive and Sylvan Avenue area.

According to police, as officers approached the front door of the residence, the suspect opened the door while armed with a firearm. One SWAT officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the suspect.

Officers immediately began rendering aid, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office was notified, responded to the scene, and will conduct its own investigation. The Office of Community Police Oversight was also notified and responded.

The investigation remains ongoing under case number 024343-2026. Police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
