DALLAS, Texas — A Dallas Police recruit was transported to a hospital early Monday morning after being struck by a suspected drunk driver while riding his motorcycle home.
According to Dallas Police, the crash occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. on March 2, 2026, in the 300 block of West Kiest Boulevard. About 30 minutes later, there was another accident involving a Dallas Police motorcycle unit on North Stemmons Fwy.
Preliminary investigation for this crash determined that 19-year-old Samantha Bonilla swerved into another lane and collided with the recruit’s motorcycle. The recruit was off duty at the time and had been riding home after studying with fellow academy classmates.
The recruit was taken to a local hospital for a precautionary evaluation. Officials said his injuries appear to be minor.
Bonilla was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.
“We’re thankful our recruit is going to be okay,” said Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux. “He was simply heading home after studying with fellow recruits when he was struck by a driver who chose to get behind the wheel impaired. Let this be a reminder, impaired driving is never worth the risk. Make a plan, call a ride, and help us keep everyone safe.”
