Suspect Arrested After Tire-Slashing Spree in White Settlement

Steven Rivera

White Settlement, TX — A man has been arrested after police say he slashed the tires of multiple vehicles during a crime spree that began early Wednesday morning.

According to the White Settlement Police Department, the incidents started around 2:30 a.m. near Ingram Street and Clifford Street, where a suspect was seen slashing vehicle tires.

Police said the suspect continued damaging vehicles later in the morning. Around 9 a.m., the same individual allegedly slashed the tires of a city Public Works Department truck.

Investigators determined that at least half a dozen vehicles had their tires flattened during the incidents.

Less than 14 hours after the first report, officers located the suspect in the 800 block of North Las Vegas Trail. Police identified him as Steven Rivera.

Authorities said Rivera was wearing the same shirt seen in surveillance footage from the earlier incidents.

Sgt. Frank Blaustein and his shift took Rivera into custody.

Police said Rivera is facing charges of Criminal Mischief related to the tire-slashing incidents. During the arrest, officers also discovered illicit drugs on him, leading to an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Rivera is currently being held at the White Settlement Police Department’s temporary holding facility and will later be transferred to the Tarrant County Jail.

Police also thanked community members and local businesses who provided surveillance video that helped officers quickly identify and locate the suspect.
