Arlington, TX — Arlington police are investigating a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 54-year-old woman Friday afternoon.
Officers responded around 12:34 p.m. on March 6 to the intersection of South Cooper Street and Eden Road after receiving reports of a major crash involving two vehicles.
When officers arrived, they found the woman driver suffering from serious injuries and requiring emergency medical attention.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
According to preliminary investigators, the crash occurred when a vehicle traveling northbound on South Cooper Street collided with the woman’s vehicle.
Police believe the woman was traveling southbound and was in the turn lane attempting to make a left turn when the collision happened.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, an adult male, was also injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Crash investigators say speed may have been a factor in the collision. Detectives are also examining whether the northbound driver may have been involved in street racing before the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives review evidence and continue speaking with those involved.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after next of kin have been notified.
