Irving Man Arrested in Apartment Armed Robbery Linked to LGBTQ Dating App Setup

Emir Martinez Gomez

IRVING, Texas — An Irving man remains in custody after police say he lured a woman through a dating app and participated in an armed robbery inside a North Irving apartment.

The victim reported the incident on February 28, 2026, telling investigators she had been robbed at gunpoint on February 24 at the Ava and Aria Apartments in the 3800 block of N. Belt Line Road.

According to police, the victim originally met the suspect through an LGBTQ dating application, where he used the profile name “Alsx Gomez.” The two started communicating and two weeks before the robbery, met at the same apartment, where they engaged in consensual sexual activity.  They continued communicating afterward through the app.

Investigators said the two arranged a second meeting, during which the victim requested specific sexual acts.  This time, the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Emir Martinez Gomez, told the victim that the encounter would cost $300.

On February 24, the victim went to the apartment and paid Gomez the agreed amount. Shortly after, a second suspect entered the room wearing a full-face mask and armed with a handgun.

Police said the masked suspect pointed the firearm at the victim and demanded her belongings using the phrase “run your sh*t.” While the victim was held at gunpoint, Gomez took her purse and searched through it, telling the armed suspect that she did not have anything else of value.

The victim told investigators she was then forced out of the apartment at gunpoint and threatened not to return. She said she feared for her life during the encounter and reported that racial and homophobic slurs were directed at her during the robbery.

The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 19 years old, with a goatee and a mullet-style haircut with short bangs.

During the investigation, detectives identified Gomez as a person of interest. Police said his appearance matched the victim’s description, and his Texas driver’s license listed the apartment as his primary address.

The victim later participated in a double-blind sequential photo lineup at the Irving Police Department, where she identified Gomez as the suspect with certainty.

Based on the evidence, an arrest warrant was issued for Gomez on March 16. He was taken into custody by Irving police in the early morning hours of March 26 and booked into the Irving Jail at approximately 5:32 a.m.

Gomez has been charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. He was later transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where he remains in custody. His bond was set at $50,000 by Dallas County Judge Herschel Woods, and authorities said a hold has been placed by another jurisdiction as the investigation continues.

Police have not yet identified the second suspect involved in the robbery.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact Irving Police criminal investigators at 972-721-2535. The investigation remains ongoing.
