Firefighters Battle Large House Fire Near Arlington–Fort Worth Border, Two Treated for Smoke Inhalation

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fire crews responded early Sunday morning to a house fire on a large property near the Fort Worth–Arlington border, leaving one home heavily damaged and two residents treated for smoke inhalation.

Just after 6:00 a.m. on April 5, the Fort Worth Fire Department was dispatched to the 8100 block of Shelton Drive, an area known for large homes set back from the roadway. The property is also part of the grounds near St. Ignatius of Loyola College Preparatory School.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy flames coming from a large residence. The property included multiple homes and structures, raising concerns about the fire spreading.

Crews launched an aggressive interior attack and were able to contain the blaze, preventing it from reaching nearby buildings. The fire was brought under control in less than 30 minutes.

Despite the quick response, the home sustained extensive damage.

Two residents were evaluated and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
