Cedar Hill Man Arrested After Fatal Fourth of July Shooting in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — A Cedar Hill man has been arrested after a Fourth of July altercation ended in a fatal shooting in Grand Prairie.

According to the Grand Prairie Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, to the 5000 block of Red River Trail following reports of a shooting in an alleyway.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported by Grand Prairie Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives determined the victim and the suspect had been involved in an altercation that escalated when the suspect allegedly produced a handgun and shot the victim.

Police said the suspect fled a short distance from the scene but was quickly apprehended by responding officers.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Eduardo Jaime of Cedar Hill.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office after next of kin have been notified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
