Dallas Police Officer Injured After Patrol Vehicle Struck During Traffic Stop

DALLAS, Texas. A Dallas police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle struck the officer's patrol car during a traffic stop on the Marvin D. Love Freeway, according to the Dallas Police Department.

Officers responded to an assist officer with ambulance call at approximately 3:52 p.m. in the 6200 block of northbound Marvin D. Love Freeway.

A preliminary investigation determined the officer was standing next to a patrol vehicle during a traffic stop when another vehicle struck the squad car. The impact injured the officer, who was transported to a hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the patrol car was also taken to a hospital by Dallas Fire-Rescue.

"We are grateful our officer does not appear to have suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution," Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said. "The safety of our officers is always our highest priority, and we appreciate the quick response of first responders and the support of our community."

The investigation is ongoing and is being documented under case number 099403-2026.
