DALLAS, Texas - A Dallas man initially arrested on an aggravated assault charge is now facing a murder charge after the victim of an early morning fight died several days later, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 2:13 a.m. on July 5 to a disturbance requiring emergency medical assistance in the 4200 block of Harry Hines Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation determined that 34-year-old Dillon Hill and 50-year-old John Zuniga became involved in a physical altercation outside.
According to police, Hill punched Zuniga, causing him to fall and strike his head on the ground.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported Zuniga to a local hospital in critical condition.
Hill was arrested at the scene and initially charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
On July 9, Zuniga died from his injuries at the hospital.
Following his death, Dallas police upgraded Hill's charge to murder. His bond was set at $1.5 million.
The investigation remains ongoing under case number 097558-2026.
