Dallas Police Search for Suspect After Officer-Involved Shooting During Domestic Violence Call

DALLAS, Texas - A manhunt is underway after a Dallas police officer shot at a domestic violence suspect who was allegedly holding a woman at knifepoint Friday morning in northeast Dallas.

Executive Assistant Chief Terrence Rhodes and Deputy Chief Jose Garcia provided an update on the officer-involved shooting, which occurred in the 8500 block of Park Lane in the Vickery Meadow area.

Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 7 a.m. on Aug. 7 after receiving a report of a disturbance.

When the first officer arrived, investigators said the officer encountered 37-year-old Isidoro Melo-Munoz holding a woman at knifepoint.

According to police, the officer repeatedly ordered Melo-Munoz to drop the knife, but he refused to comply.

The officer fired one shot at the suspect. Police said Melo-Munoz fled the scene before he could be taken into custody as the officer remained behind to render aid to the victim.

Investigators said the woman had been stabbed during the incident. She was transported to a local hospital, where she is listed in stable condition.

Police said the victim and Melo-Munoz were involved in a dating relationship.

No officers were injured during the encounter.

Melo-Munoz remains at large. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.

Dallas police said officers are using drones and other resources as part of an active search for the suspect.

Anyone who sees Melo-Munoz is urged not to approach him and instead call 911 immediately.

The investigation into both the stabbing and the officer-involved shooting remains ongoing.
