DALLAS, Texas - Dallas Police are investigating a shooting that left a 20-year-old woman dead and a pedestrian injured Tuesday night in southwest Dallas.
Officers responded to a shooting call at approximately 8:25 p.m. on August 25, 2026, in the 8000 block of West Virginia Drive near the Ridbird area.
When officers arrived, they initially found a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle, according to Dallas Police. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
During the investigation, officers located the driver of the vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Aniya Edwards.
Police determined Edwards had been shot by an unknown suspect. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police have not released information about what led to the shooting or whether Edwards was driving when she was shot. No information about a possible suspect or suspect vehicle was immediately available.
The homicide remains under investigation and is documented under case number 125247-2026.
