LEWISVILLE, Texas - A 33-year-old Lewisville man accused of strangling and assaulting his pregnant girlfriend was also charged in connection with an earlier incident in which police say he assaulted the same woman and forced her and her two young children outside into sub-freezing temperatures.
Damien Marcel Delaney, 33, was arrested August 22, 2026, after Lewisville police responded to the Vistas on the Park Apartments in the 1000 block of Edmonds Lane. The victim told officers she and Delaney had been in a dating relationship for approximately seven years.
Police initially charged Delaney with Assault on a Pregnant Person and Assault Family/Household Member Impeding Breath or Circulation. His bond on those charges was set at $17,500.
The investigation began at approximately 7:14 a.m. when Lewisville Police Officer Nazario was dispatched to the apartment complex for an assault in progress. The woman reported that Delaney had choked her and was throwing things inside the apartment.
The woman told police she had been asleep in bed with Delaney when he woke her and began asking about his phone charger. An argument followed, and Delaney allegedly jumped on her while she was lying on her back.
According to police, Delaney straddled the woman and placed both hands against the side of her neck, applying pressure. She reported being unable to breathe for approximately five seconds and becoming lightheaded to the point that she felt she might lose consciousness.
After releasing her neck, Delaney followed the woman when she got out of bed, pushed her into a corner and repeatedly slapped and struck her. Police documented redness, bruising and a raised area on her left shoulder.
The woman told investigators she was approximately two months pregnant and Delaney knew about the pregnancy. Delaney also reportedly acknowledged to another officer that the woman was pregnant, although he denied hitting her.
Police said Delaney eventually woke the woman's children, forced them out of the apartment and threw their school backpacks outside and down a staircase before locking the door. A neighbor heard the disturbance and reportedly threatened to call 911 if Delaney did not stop.
Delaney later left the apartment in a red Hyundai sedan. Officer Dumas located the vehicle leaving the complex and conducted a traffic stop. Officers also discovered Delaney had active misdemeanor warrants from the Carrollton and Lancaster police departments.
As officers investigated the August 22 incident, the woman disclosed another alleged assault involving Delaney that had occurred nearly seven months earlier.
According to the subsequent investigation by Officer Ham, the woman said Delaney assaulted her between approximately 7 p.m. and 9:47 p.m. on January 31, 2026, at the InTown Suites at 101 Valley View Drive.
The woman told police Delaney had been drinking that evening and the situation turned “ugly.” She alleged that he yelled at her, repeatedly slapped her in the face and dragged her around the motel room by her hair.
She told investigators the assault was so violent that several braids were pulled from her scalp. She rated the pain from the assault as a 10 on a 10-point scale and described it as “very painful.”
The woman did not have photographs of the alleged injuries. She told Officer Ham that even if photographs had been taken, she believed Delaney would have deleted them.
According to police, the confrontation then extended to the woman's two daughters, who are 10 and 9 years old.
The woman alleged Delaney physically pushed her out of the motel room and forced her and the children outside into freezing weather. She said only one of the children had been able to grab a jacket before leaving. The children were otherwise wearing shorts.
Delaney kept the woman's car keys, leaving her and the children without transportation or a way to get somewhere warm.
Unbeknownst to their mother at the time, the children contacted their father, Zachary Hill, and asked him to come get them. The woman and children reportedly waited inside a vehicle that was not running for an undetermined amount of time. Police records described the temperatures as below freezing with ice on the ground.
When Hill arrived, an altercation occurred and Hill was arrested.
Police later obtained additional information about what had happened before Hill arrived.
According to an officer's report taken February 2, Hill went to the Lewisville Police Department to report an assault involving Delaney. Hill said his older daughter had texted him for help because her mother and Delaney were arguing inside the motel room.
The girl told investigators that she and her sister were inside the InTown Suites room with their mother, Delaney and their half-brother when the argument occurred. She reported seeing Delaney pulling her mother's hair and assaulting her in front of the children.
The girl said that was when she texted her father for help. She further reported that Delaney kicked her and her sister out of the room without allowing them to retrieve their belongings.
During the August investigation, the woman told police that she had mentioned an altercation between herself and Delaney to officers who responded to the January incident. However, she said Delaney provided officers with a false name and she went along with the false identification.
When Officer Ham asked why she had not provided Delaney's correct identity, the woman said she feared retaliation from him.
Investigators also learned that Delaney had previously been arrested in 2023 for Assault of a Pregnant Person. According to police records, that charge was later reduced to Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member, and Delaney was subsequently convicted of that offense.
Following the August 22 investigation, Delaney was arrested on the outstanding warrants and the new family violence charges. He was transported to the Lewisville City Jail without incident.
