DART Releases Ridership Data for First Time, Irving Records 2.3 Million Rides in FY 2026

IRVING, Texas - Dallas Area Rapid Transit has made monthly ridership data publicly available for the first time, giving Irving residents and city officials a closer look at how people are using buses, trains and GoLink service across the city.

DART's newly released data shows 2.3 million rides in Irving during fiscal year 2026, with buses accounting for more trips than any other transit mode.

Bus ridership totaled approximately 900,000 rides in Irving, followed by light rail with about 800,000.

GoLink, DART's on-demand transportation service, recorded approximately 500,000 rides, while commuter rail accounted for about 200,000.

Weekday ridership in Irving totaled approximately 1.8 million, with an average of 8,362 rides per weekday. That represents a 2.8% decrease compared with fiscal year 2025.

Saturday ridership moved in the opposite direction.

Irving recorded approximately 300,000 Saturday rides, averaging 6,348 per day. Saturday ridership increased 2.3% from the previous fiscal year.

Sunday ridership totaled approximately 200,000, with an average of 5,670 rides per Sunday, down 0.6% from fiscal year 2025.

The Irving figures are part of two new dashboards launched by DART to provide the public with detailed monthly ridership information.

The dashboards cover DART's bus, commuter rail, light rail, paratransit and GoLink services. Users can examine systemwide numbers as well as data for individual cities within DART's service area.

Information can be broken down by month, time of day and day of the week. The dashboards also allow comparisons between DART member cities and between fiscal years 2025 and 2026.

A separate dashboard provides more detailed information specifically about light rail ridership.

DART said the release is the first phase of a broader effort to make ridership information easier for the public and local governments to access. Additional data and features are expected to be added in later phases.

"The development of these ridership dashboards brought together expertise and input from teams across DART to create a more accessible and transparent view of ridership information," interim DART President and CEO David Leininger said.

DART said making city-specific information available should also help local officials evaluate transit use and make decisions about service in partnership with the agency.

The dashboards supplement the quarterly ridership reports presented to the DART Board of Directors. Unlike those reports, the online dashboards will be updated monthly with data from the previous month.

DART cautioned that figures for the current fiscal year remain subject to revisions as additional information becomes available.
