Irving Man Accused of Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend, Threatening to Stab Her

IRVING, Texas - An Irving man is facing multiple charges after police say he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend, prevented her from leaving their apartment and threatened to stab her, less than two months after a previous arrest involving the same woman.

32-year-old Daniel Rashaud Conley was arrested Aug. 28 after Irving police responded to a domestic disturbance in progress at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Esters Road, near West Pioneer Drive.

The woman told officers she and Conley had been dating for approximately four years and were expecting their first child together. She said she was about 3 1/2 to four months pregnant.

According to police, Conley knew about the pregnancy and had taken her to a pregnancy appointment earlier that morning.

The woman told officers that during the disturbance, Conley blocked the apartment doorway to prevent her from leaving. She said he grabbed her around the neck with both hands, dragged her away from the doorway and slammed her into a wall.

The impact caused her pain and damaged the drywall, according to police. She told officers Conley restrained her for approximately five minutes and would not allow her to leave. An officer reported seeing redness on her arm.

The confrontation escalated when Conley threatened to stab her, the woman told police. She said he told her they could both die that day as he walked toward the kitchen, where knives were kept.

The woman told officers she feared for her life and believed Conley would carry out the threat.

She eventually escaped from the apartment and called 911.

Police also confirmed Conley had been arrested July 8 for an earlier assault involving the same woman in which she suffered a visible injury.

Conley was taken into custody and booked into the Irving Jail. He was charged with unlawful restraint, assault of a pregnant person, terroristic threat and continuous violence against the family. His bond was set at $223,000.

Authorities also determined Conley was on probation for convictions involving fraudulent possession or use of stolen credit or debit cards and fraudulent use or possession of stolen identities.  That case was filed after an arrest in College Station, TX.  

The Brazos County Sheriff's Office requested a hold on Conley on two motions to revoke probation following his new charges.
