Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting Near Dallas-Lancaster Border

DALLAS, Texas - A 59-year-old man is expected to face a murder charge after a shooting late Monday in southeast Dallas left one man dead and the accused gunman hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

Dallas police responded around 11:10 p.m. Sept. 7 to a shooting in the 2500 block of Cherry Valley Boulevard, near the Lancaster city limits.

The preliminary investigation determined that Donald James, 59, shot Darryl Anderson, 56, according to police.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and pronounced Anderson dead at the scene.

Police later located James with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and remains in police custody.

Dallas police said James will be charged with murder.

Investigators have not disclosed what led to the shooting, how James was wounded or the relationship between the two men.
