Dallas Police Officer Arrested for Unauthorized Release of Body Camera Recording
DALLAS, Texas - A Dallas police officer has been arrested on a misdemeanor charge accusing him of improperly releasing body-worn camera footage.
Officer Ronald Maillet Jr. turned himself in Sept. 5 on a warrant issued through the Dallas County Sheriff's Office for unauthorized release of a body-worn camera recording, a Class A misdemeanor.
Dallas police did not provide details about the recording Maillet is accused of releasing, including when the incident occurred, what the footage showed or who received it.
Maillet has been with the Dallas Police Department since October 2018 and is assigned to the South-Central Patrol Division.
The department placed Maillet on administrative leave before his arrest. He remains on administrative leave while an internal investigation is conducted.
