Dallas Man Accused of Kidnapping, Drugging and Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl

DALLAS - A 63-year-old Dallas man has been federally charged with kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and holding her captive for several days after offering to give her a ride home, according to federal prosecutors.

David Michael Klepak is charged with kidnapping in a federal criminal complaint filed Aug. 27.

According to the complaint, the girl was lost in her Dallas neighborhood when Klepak approached her and offered to drive her home. Instead, investigators allege he took her to his Dallas residence and held her there from approximately July 30 through Aug. 2.

The complaint alleges Klepak repeatedly sexually assaulted the girl while she was being held at the residence.

Investigators said Klepak also pressured the teenager to take narcotics with him, yelling at her when she refused. He allegedly threatened to kill her at times, according to the complaint.

The girl escaped around Aug. 2 and was found by a family member, who took her to a Dallas police station to report what had happened.

Dallas police arrested Klepak that same day.

According to an affidavit filed in the case, the teenager provided investigators with information that helped identify Klepak, including descriptions of the suspect's luxury vehicles and distinctive jewelry.

"The conduct described in this complaint is brutal and predatory," U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould said. "As alleged, the defendant, a 63-year-old man, kidnapped, drugged and raped the victim, a teenage girl."

Homeland Security Investigations is leading the investigation with assistance from the Dallas Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Claire Demers and Brandie Wade are prosecuting the case.

If convicted of the federal kidnapping charge, Klepak faces up to life in prison.
