18-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in I-20 Crash in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas - An 18-year-old motorcyclist died early Saturday after his motorcycle struck the back of a car on Interstate 20 in Arlington, police said.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the rider as Landon Corbia Murphy, 18.

Arlington police officers responded at approximately 1:01 a.m. Sept. 26 to the westbound lanes of I-20 near Bowman Springs Road after receiving reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a Honda Civic.

Investigators determined Murphy's motorcycle struck the rear of the Civic, throwing him from the bike. He was found on the shoulder of the highway and transported to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.

Murphy died from his injuries at 3:18 a.m. in the hospital's operating room, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

The impact of the collision also caused the Honda Civic to strike construction barriers along the highway. The Civic's driver was transported to a hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.

Arlington police investigators believe the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred.
