Aubrey High Assistant Football Coach Arrested on Child Sexual Assault and Child Pornography Charges

AUBREY, Texas — A 21-year-old former Aubrey High School assistant football coach and powerlifting coach has been arrested on multiple felony charges, including sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography, state and local authorities announced.

Wesley Huber, 21, of Providence Village, Texas, was arrested on Monday, September 28, 2026, by Aubrey Police officers following a joint investigation with the Aubrey Independent School District (AISD) Police Department.

DFPS Outcry and Resignation of Former Student-Athlete

The investigation began on September 21, 2026, when the Aubrey Police Department received a notification from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) detailing an alleged improper relationship between an AISD educator and a student attending an district school.

According to AISD Superintendent Dr. Shannon Saylor, district administrators placed Huber on administrative leave immediately upon learning of the allegations. Huber subsequently submitted his resignation from the school district.

Huber was a former student-athlete at Aubrey High School, where he competed as an all-state linebacker and all-district running back before graduating in 2023. He was hired by the school district in 2024, serving as a powerlifting coach and assistant football coach at the high school.

Forensic Search Warrants and Arrest

Investigators with the Aubrey Police Department and AISD Police Department executed multiple search warrants during the week-long investigation. Forensic evidence recovered from those warrants led authorities to secure arrest warrants for Huber.

Huber was formally charged with:

• Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student

• Possession of Child Pornography (Over 50 depictions or images)

• Sexual Assault of a Child

Following his arrest on Monday, Huber was booked into the Denton County Detention Center. His bond was set at $30,000. Court records indicate Huber posted bond and was released from custody later the same day.

Police officials stated that the criminal investigation into Huber remains active and ongoing.
