Waxahachie Mother Charged With Capital Murder in Shooting Deaths of Two Sons
WAXAHACHIE, Texas - A Waxahachie mother has been charged with capital murder after investigators said she shot and killed her two sons, ages 21 and 15, inside an Ellis County home early Thursday morning.
Ellis County sheriff's deputies were sent to a residence in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive at approximately 4:13 a.m. Oct. 1 after the Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an unknown emergency.
When deputies entered the home, they found two males suffering from gunshot wounds.
21-year-old Christopher Scott Pitre of Waxahachie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His 15-year-old brother was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. Authorities are withholding the teenager's name.
Deputies also found the boys' mother, 42-year-old Colleen Nichole Lemmon, inside the home with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
As detectives worked through the scene, investigators said they recovered evidence that led them to identify Lemmon as the person responsible for shooting both victims. The Sheriff's Office did not disclose what that evidence was or what investigators believe led to the shootings.
Lemmon was arrested and initially taken to a hospital for treatment.
After being released from the hospital, she was booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center on two counts of capital murder. Her bond was pending arraignment at the time the Sheriff's Office released information about the case.
Authorities said the victims' father has been notified of both deaths.
