Parent Arrested at Texas High School Football Game for Watching Porn In Front of Student Section
PERRIN, Texas - A Perrin man was arrested Saturday after authorities said he displayed inappropriate material on his cellphone where students could see it during a high school football game the previous night.
Chad Whitworth, 41, was arrested on a charge of display of harmful material to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor, according to the Jack County Sheriff's Office. His bail was set at $25,000, and he has since bonded out of the Jack County Jail.
The investigation began Saturday, Oct. 3, when the Sheriff's Office received a report about an incident during Friday night's Perrin-Whitt vs. Gold-Burg football game at Pirate Stadium, also known as Perrin-Whitt Pirates Field, at 216 N. Benson St. in Perrin.
According to the report, a parent was standing in front of the student section while viewing inappropriate material on a cellphone. Several students were reportedly in a position to see what was displayed on the screen.
The Sheriff's Office began investigating and said deputies obtained statements and gathered enough information within several hours to secure an arrest warrant for Whitworth.
Deputies arrested Whitworth later Saturday and booked him into the Jack County Jail.
Authorities did not describe the material Whitworth is accused of displaying or specify how many students may have seen it. The information released also did not indicate whether Whitworth has a connection to either team beyond being described as a parent at the game.
Perrin-Whitt High School's Pirates play six-man football and represent Perrin-Whitt Consolidated Independent School District in Perrin, a Jack County community northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The Sheriff's Office said the case remains under investigation.
