Toddler Accidentally Killed from Self-Inflicting Wound After Finding Gun in Arlington Home

At around 12:30 am this morning, Arlington officers responded to a home in the 5300 block of Pocassett Drive to investigate a report of shots fired.

When they arrived on scene, they found a woman holding her 2-year-old son who had an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where sadly, he was pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Investigators believe the child found a gun in a teenage sibling’s room and accidentally fired it, striking himself.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the child as Rio Carrington.

At this time, no criminal charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
