On Sunday, July 16, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred at a gas station in the 4900 block of Little Road, prompting a swift response from the Arlington Police Department. The incident, which took place at approximately 8:17 p.m., resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male who sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the victim's lifeless body inside a parked car near one of the gas pumps. Medical personnel pronounced him dead on-site. While three other individuals were present in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, they fortunately escaped unharmed.
Following interviews with witnesses and a thorough examination of surveillance footage, investigators pieced together the events leading up to the tragedy. It was revealed that the victim and the alleged shooter, identified as 18-year-old Taymour Makarem, engaged in a verbal altercation at the gas station. The confrontation escalated dramatically when Makarem brandished a firearm and discharged multiple rounds into the victim's car before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officials swiftly identified Makarem as the prime suspect in the case and located him shortly afterward at the intersection of Treepoint Drive and Paces Trail. Authorities apprehended him without resistance, and he was subsequently placed under arrest.
Investigators have uncovered a history of animosity between Makarem and the deceased victim, suggesting an ongoing feud between the two individuals. While the precise nature of their dispute remains undisclosed, it appears that the animosity had been building over an extended period.
The Arlington Police Department has charged Taymour Makarem with one count of Murder. He is currently being held at the Arlington City Jail pending further legal proceedings.
