A daring vehicle theft incident on July 27, 2023, led to a dramatic pursuit that involved Lewisville Police Officers and two courageous citizens. The swift response of law enforcement and the assistance of concerned citizens resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old Ethan Bryant, a resident of Lewisville, on multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

The incident began in the 1800 block of North Summit Avenue, where the owner of a stolen vehicle reported the crime to the Lewisville Police Department. Thanks to the owner's quick thinking, they were able to ping the vehicle's location to the south of Lewisville.

The Lewisville Police Department's Flock Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system proved to be invaluable during the operation, as it helped a police officer locate the stolen vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect driving the stolen car chose to evade law enforcement, initiating a high-speed pursuit.

During the chase, the suspect collided with another vehicle, causing significant damage and leaving it disabled. Despite this setback, the determined suspect did not give up easily. Abandoning the stolen vehicle, he continued to flee on foot, putting pedestrians and motorists at risk.

With the situation escalating, brave citizens stepped in to aid the police officers in their pursuit of the suspect. These concerned individuals actively participated in the foot chase and assisted law enforcement in apprehending the armed suspect.

During the pursuit on foot, the suspect brandished a handgun, threatening one of the citizens who was attempting to detain him. Fortunately, their quick thinking and cooperation with the police officers ensured that the situation did not escalate further. The only injuries reported were minor, and they were sustained by the suspect when he was tackled by one of the citizens.

Ultimately, the collaborative efforts of the Lewisville Police Department and the two citizens culminated in the arrest of Ethan Bryant. He now faces a litany of charges, including Accident Involving Damage (Hit and Run), Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, as well as several outstanding warrants.
